Change in Motion

When I arrived at EOSIS Beauterre campus in 2023, I was ready for a change. I needed help managing my mental health and alcohol use disorder and was ready to put in the work to create a better life for myself. During my month-long stay as an inpatient, providers equipped me with the tools and foundational structure that have allowed me to undergo a radical transformation in the game of life.
Every element of my existence has become exponentially better in recovery — community, mental and physical health, family and friendships, meaning and purpose, and most surprisingly, career. I'm at the top of my game because I show up 100 percent every day. Being public and vulnerable about my struggles is probably the best thing I've done in my professional life. The support has been overwhelming among colleagues. People appreciate the candidness and vulnerability, a deflated ego and showing up with more empathy and grace. Life is hard. We all struggle. Most simply don't talk about it. We share our successes, not the failures.
These changes culminated in an amazing opportunity. I'm beginning a new chapter in my career as the Marketing and Communications Manager at EOSIS.
I've gotten to know EOSIS during the past few years as a patient advocate for a marketing campaign, through advocacy/thought leadership efforts as a contract employee, and most importantly, as a patient who has experienced the excellent care they provide for people who are struggling with addiction and mental health. I've made mistakes in my career path when I wasn't a good fit for an organization or vice versa. I'm confident that will not be the case at EOSIS.
Change is scary. But it can be good. Necessary and paramount to move forward. For me, that has certainly been the case.
